Captain's Log,

John Nance - Started giving bayou tours in
Jefferson in 1982 and has taken tens of thousands
of folks to see the bayou and to hear the story of
Jefferson.

Some remember him as the one man band who
performed at Auntie Skinners Riverboat Club for
over ten years.  He has given up stage performing
now, and concentrates all his energy into the
bayou tours and historical research.  Although
John has not published any books or articles yet,
he is often called upon by authors to help with
research.  When time allows, he is also willing to
help individuals find information on their ancestors
who lived in Jefferson.  He really loves to hear
those old oral history anecdotes, and especially
likes to see old photos of days gone by, so
bring 'em if you got 'em.

Mary Rose Humphrey - What can you say about
Mary?  She's the real thing.  Raised on an island
in South Louisiana, her daddy was a famous
trapper and alligator hunter who moved to
Jefferson in the 1960's.  She has always loved
this bayou.  She and her family spend as much
time as possible in or around it.  A real people
person, she has taken an interest in many of our
guests and made many lasting friendships with
folks she met on the boat.  She receives more fan
mail than the rest of us put together.  She's
beyond description - you just have to meet her
for yourself!
